HEPHAESTUS (HEritage Protocols for ArcHitecturAl European croSs-bordering siTes evalUationS) is funded by the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme (Proposal Nº 101182877).
In a historical moment marked by geopolitical tensions and fragile borders, the project reframes military architecture — traditionally symbols of separation — as catalysts for cultural dialogue and architectural continuity.
Two cross-border Cultural Heritage Routes, spanning from the Middle Ages to 20th-century fortifications, provide the empirical basis for developing interoperable Digital Twins and shared knowledge systems.
